SA SubElectro 175

subwoofer SA SubElectro 175

380 Watts at your disposal …

Despite its diminutive size, the SubElectro is a powerful active subwoofer with unique capacity for matching a room’s acoustics.

You will never run dry for power with an SA SubElectro. Instead you’ll experience a powerful and potent reproduction of deep bass. The round plate under the cabinet isn’t just an elegant design element. The plate can turn, changing the subwoofer from a bass reflex into a sealed chamber. This simple, yet unique concept lets you adjust the SubElectro to suit rooms with difficult acoustics.

The two active subwoofers in the SubElectro series are remarkably versatile, and are specially designed to reproduce low frequencies. This makes them ideal for home cinemas where they add energy and drama to your viewing experience. What is really unusual is that they can also be used in a music sound system where they add a deeper and more precise bass than ordinary loudspeakers – even those that are really big.

the SubElectro 175 is an active subwoofer that distinguishes itself from the rest by offering a very precise bass reproduction, while at the same time being an attractive piece of furniture

power and grace

Everyone knows the problems of rumbling bass from active subwoofers. The sound becomes distorted making it difficult to distinguish individual sounds. The important elements in the sound disappear and the different instruments all sound the same. Thanks to its speed and precision, that’s definitely not the case with the SA SubElectro series.

The built-in amplifier features a massive power supply, enabling it to deliver really huge effects. The woofer’s magnet is at least twice as big as those used in ordinary active subwoofers. The cabinet is made from 25 mm finished MDF to ensure optimal stability. The front and the bottom of the cabinet are also reinforced in thickness (35 and 50mm respectively). This combination of great stability, massive amplifier effect and great control over the bass loudspeakers membrane movement produces an unbelievable energy and precision that is easy to integrate into the sound from your other loudspeakers.

SA Talent

compact speaker SA talent

size doesn’t matter - talent does

You hear them long before you see them. Fascinated by the open, vivid and rich sound, you scan the room in search of a large pair of speakers. But there are none. Instead you discover two small speaker fronts the size of A4. Positioned discretely on the wall they deliver a sound so persuasive that you don’t believe your own ears. The new speakers from SA honestly deserve their name: talent.

resist the ordinary

talent is more than a musical treat – it’s also more discrete and flexible than any other speaker. You can use it in a stereo combination or in a surround system. And you can place it anywhere: On the wall using a single screw, in the bookcase or on the windowsill, the floor, a table, a shelf or wherever you’ve got a bit of free space. And it comes in black and white with fronts in black, grey or white to easily adapt to your style and furnishing.

selected raw materials to match your taste

The recipe for SA talent contains ingredients such as beautiful design, cabinets in solid wood, custom-build drive units and a high quality crossover network – all delicately seasoned with unconventional technical solutions. SA Comet

compact speaker SA comet

comet : a mass that moves

 around the sun and looks

like a bright star with a tail

the market's most
universal speaker

SA comet represents a different way of thinking about speakers. It can be placed on the wall, on a shelf, a table or the floor – and that's only for starters.

The SA comet takes its name from its versatility, from the fact that it is able to constantly change its position and appearance. The built-in fixture means it can be suspended from a wall using only a single screw. It can be placed on a shelf or table, or mounted on a specially designed floor stand. You can also suspend it from the ceiling by mounting it with fixtures normally used for flat-screen televisions.

SA comet is made for people who expect to be able to place their speakers wherever it suits them and still enjoy top-class sound quality.

made for both music and home cinema

The only thing about SA comet that does not change is its big sound. Experience how you feel closer to the music, no matter what type of music you listen to. The sound is rich and warm, and the bass reproduction is nothing short of astounding for such a small speaker. The surprising bass is due, amongst other things, to the special hybrid reflex® system, introduced for the first time in SA comet. As part of a home cinema, it works well as either front or back speaker along with other SA speakers. SA comet AV is a variant of the normal model, designed for use as centre speaker in a home cinema.

use it with a good stereo system

A suitable home cinema or stereo system for SA comet does not need to be more powerful than 25–30 watts per channel, but a good quality system is needed in order to get the best possible sound quality from the speakers. In most cases, the speakers will sound even better with a more powerful system, all the way up to 100–150 watts, but the quality of the system is ultimately more important than its watt specification.

SA comet can be placed on the wall,

on a shelf, a table or the floor

SA comet AV offers the same options

for replacing front grilles and

deco rings as SA comet

The SA comet takes its name from its versatility, from the fact that it is

able to constantly change its

position and appearance.

how will yours look?

Right now, you only have to decide whether or not you want a white or black cabinet. Everything else can be replaced. There are 36 colour combinations to choose from.

SA comet can be adapted to suit your home's decor like no other speaker on the market. At any time, you can change the speaker's front grille, with a choice of white, black or grey. Behind the front grille, you will find a special deco ring, which will further personalise the speaker's appearance. The deco ring is available in six different finishes: four in different paint colours and two in real wood. And if you want a really special colour, you can even paint the deco rings yourself.

As a starting point, the white speakers feature a white cabinet, white front grille and aluminium-coloured deco ring, while the black version is supplied with a black cabinet, black front grille and aluminium-coloured deco ring.

Front grilles and deco rings in other finishes are available as accessories.

solutions for your home

SA comet doesn't tie you down to a particular format. You can build upon what you already have at any time without having to get rid of anything.

SA comet is designed to assume any position in a stereo system or a home cinema, as either front, back or centre speaker (the AV version). There are no differences between the individual versions of the speaker, apart from the physical appearance of the centre speaker. In other words, a speaker that starts out in your stereo system can continue life as front or back speaker in your home cinema.

You can also mix both SA comet and its AV version with other SA models in a home cinema because all SA speakers share the same basic sound concept.

designed for flexibility

SA comet's trapezium shape means it suits a greater number of different positions than ordinary speakers.

SA comet does not follow market trends. In fact, there's no other speaker like it. The special trapezium shape invites you to put the speaker in positions where ordinary speakers would look out of place, but its flexibility doesn't stop there. Behind the speaker you will find four holes designed for a VESA fixture or for the FS3 floor stand, allowing you to try out an almost unlimited variety of different positions and angles whenever you see fit.

SA comet fits a flat-screen bracket

SA comet speakers are pre-prepared for fixtures constructed in compliance with the VESA standard.

This means that they can be suspended from the ceiling or hung on a wall using the same type of fixtures as flat-screen televisions. The pictures above feature two of the countless fixtures available on the market.

acoustic freedom

Acoustics are not covered by the technical specifications for a speaker, but will almost certainly be the characteristic of the speaker that you'll appreciate the most.

Try moving around the room while you listen to SA comet. Notice that almost no matter where you are, you can clearly hear all the sounds and instruments. That is the mark of good acoustics. It feels liberating when even vague sounds are heard clearly, and when it is easy to hear what is being said or sung. You will notice that SA comet sounds like a far bigger speaker. This is due to its innovative acoustic technology – hybrid reflex®.

You will notice that SA comet sounds

.

hybrid reflex® – innovative acoustic technology

Most speakers are bass-reflex speakers, and a few expensive models are produced according to the so-called 'slave principle'. SA comet combines the characteristics of both. It has a bass port like a bass-reflex speaker, as well as a passive membrane like a slave speaker. We call the technology hybrid reflex® – and the unique feature of this design is that hybrid reflex® makes it possible to reproduce deeper bass and to make the sound bigger and more full-bodied.

Further information about hybrid reflex® technology is included in a separate article.

the technical background

takes advantage of the laws of acoustics

The acoustics in SA exact have been specially adapted so the speaker works close to a wall.

In acoustics, special rules apply when sound encounters large surfaces such as walls. When a speaker is placed near a wall, some of the sound reflects from the surface of the wall and blends with the sound it has already sent out into the room. An ordinary speaker will distort the sound if it isn't specifically designed to work in those conditions. This manifests itself, for example, in deep tones sounding fuzzy and voices sounding mumbled and incomprehensible. The acoustics in SA exact have been specially adapted to cope with large surfaces. The effects of the reflections were taken into account during the design and development stage, so SA exact works perfectly when hung on a wall, without passing on vibrations to the wall.

XL technology

the special XL technology contains two voice coils in the speaker's motor system

the woofers use XL technology

Each W1404XL woofer contains new technology, with two voice coils per engine instead of one. We call it XL technology both because the sound becomes "extra large" and because it excels. These small woofers are incredibly durable and precise because the various movable parts are cast together in the same mould, not glued in place like traditional woofers.

  • XL technology uses two voice coils in each woofer to reproduce the deepest tones
  • XL technology makes our woofers capable of reproducing far deeper bass than woofers using traditional technology
  • membrane weight: 0.9 grams, corresponding to 25 % of the weight of an ordinary piece of A4 paper
  • 12 mm piston stroke (membrane movement)
  • cast aluminium chassis
  • the W1404XL bass element is magnetically shielded
  • XL technology is only available in SA speakers

the T2506XS tweeter is an acoustic masterpiece

Acoustics, precision engineering and musicality converge in the T2506XS tweeter to provide a fantastically subtle reproduction of every detail of the sound. With a weight of just 80 mg, the almost transparent membrane is possibly the lightest ever produced.

  • XS technology means that a wave guide around the tweeter controls the sound dispersion so it is not reflected from the front plate and the edges of the cabinet. The wave guide is an advanced acoustic solution, which directs sound waves away from obstacles, simplifies the crossover network for the tweeter and improves the sound quality
  • XS Technology ensures that the tweeter transmits sound over a greater area than traditional tweeters. You can move around, or sit in different places, and still experience a constant sound quality throughout the room. Ordinary tweeters give a focused beam of sound, meaning you have to sit right in front of the speaker to get the full benefit of the experience. XS technology extends the area in front of the speakers in which you can enjoy the best possible sound quality
  • a 12 mm front plate made of cast aluminium serves as the vibration-free base from which the tweeter transmits information that requires precise membrane movements – all the way down to 0.0005 mm!!
  • unique textile membrane weighing only 80 mg – possibly the lightest ever produced
  • separate built-in chamber behind the membrane
  • resonance caused by the sound from the rear of the membrane striking the bottom plate of the magnet is eliminated by small blocks of damping material, which can be seen through the semi-transparent membrane
  • theT2506XS tweeter is magnetically shielded

sincere respect for quality

SA1730 is a tasteful quality loudspeaker with a discrete appeareance. The sound is authoritive and matches every form of music.

Here the same experience and expertise that produced the SA1750 has been poured into a smaller form factor. That’s why the SA1730 shares many of the same qualities as its big brother. Both make it a virtue to be different. Instead of complexity we’ve pursued simplicity. It’s compact, not gigantic. It doesn’t differentiate between music and film – it can be used to great advantage for both. The sound is dynamic and natural thanks to the especially powerful drive units with ultra-lightweight membranes.

SA Ranger

floor standing speaker SA ranger

SA ranger is more than a top-class

 speaker. It is a beautiful

piece of furniture

welcome home

Its message is difficult to miss. SA ranger is shaped like a discreet exclamation mark as a reminder of just how pleasurable it is to come home to top-class entertainment.

SA ranger is for people who want to be inspired by top-class entertainment in their homes. When you close your door, shutting out the hectic outside world, SA ranger is open to any kind of musical experience: rock, pop, jazz, classical – or whatever else you fancy. You can play soft background music or blast it out at high volume for hours. You can move around or sit down. Everywhere you go, you will experience uniform and faithfully reproduced sound quality.

SA ranger can also be integrated into your home cinema, and will convince you that it is worth spending time spoiling yourself with large-scale experiences.

genuine product development

SA ranger is a genuine innovation. It doesn't just disguise old technology in new packaging, as you will find elsewhere in the speaker industry. SA is not the biggest speaker brand, so we have to do a better job to be noticed. And we take our job seriously. All the parts in an SA ranger have been specially developed for the speaker, so it is able to set new standards in its class.

It isn't called 'ranger' for nothing. Its job is to introduce you to experiences you haven't enjoyed before

SA ranger attracts attention by looking like a discreet exclamation mark

acoustics – invisible quality

Acoustics is one of the least visible sciences. But superb acoustics liberate music and provide extraordinarily good sound. Acoustic perfection is only one of our goals, and our development process starts far away from laboratories. Our speakers are designed to work in the homes of the people who choose to live with them. A number of the world's leading acoustic engineers helped develop SA ranger. Their contribution may be difficult to see, but you can’t help hearing it.

sound for the home – not the lab

In an ordinary home, both the floor and the ceiling have even surfaces, almost completely devoid of breaks or variations, but the room's furniture will affect the acoustics. The floor and ceiling surfaces normally generate a large number of reflections, which make the sound appear unnatural, while the furniture in the room and along the walls generates far fewer reflections – so SA ranger distributes less sound in the direction of the floor and ceiling than you are used to from other speakers. The tight design also helps prevent reflections from the front plate, while the relatively deep cabinet prevents sound reflections from the inside of the cabinet escaping through the membranes of the drive units. All of this is clearly audible, because the reduced reflections and the excellent acoustics really do make you feel close to the artists.

right in the ear

SA ranger can be positioned anywhere you want – although it does always pay to experiment a bit to get the best possible sound. And when you sit in front of the speakers, the sound comes straight at you at ear height, as if you were sitting right in front of the musicians.

the mutual positioning of the speakers, their size, their tone area,

distance to the floor and the shape of the cabinet are among the

factors that influence the acoustics – and therefore the sound –

of the speaker. Part of the acoustic design of SA ranger was

done with the help of advanced computer simulations

world class know-how behind the product:

global development team

behind the technologies

Some of the technology in SA speakers has been developed by specialist companies from all over the world, each a leader in their field.  The development method is both brave and visionary, and it creates better products for our customers.

In the early 20th century, the rise of industrialisation generated products that could be acquired by everybody, and not just by the wealthy. Companies used to consider it a matter of honour to produce everything themselves, but today, this attitude seems old-fashioned. The industrial society has been succeeded by the knowledge society, and technological development is now so rapid that there is no longer any point in producing everything under one roof. SA adopted this new approach a long time ago.

what do SA speakers have in common with most film productions?

what does the majority of your music collection have in common with SA?

what does SA have in common with the world's most innovative and expensive speakers?

what does SA have in common with the world's most expensive cables, which are used in surgery on the human body?

does SA have anything in common with the acousticians who have designed the world's best concert halls?

We have quite a lot in common.

The same companies that develop technologies and sound for the purposes listed above also helped develop SA.

It is completely unique for a speaker brand to be able to bring together such expertise in every single product.

best developers in the world

We want to enthral people with better sound, and this is the inspiration behind each SA speaker. There are no other speakers like them. All our speakers are assembled at our own factory in Denmark and are personally approved by members of staff, who put their signature on every single product. But the advanced acoustic, mechanical and electrical components are developed and produced by specialist companies who are world leaders based in the USA, Europe or the Far East. SA is possibly the only speaker brand that has embraced globalisation in such an ambitious way. But who is behind the technology in SA speakers? Ultimately, SA is. No speakers are like ours. The developers behind all kinds of professional studio speakers, which have played a vital role in creating the majority of your music collection, have a share in the sound of SA. The companies behind the sound on most of the world's film productions also do development work for SA. The people behind some of the world's most advanced speakers are also involved in projects for us. Even the cables inside the speakers – and the terminals on the back – are produced by companies who don't do anything else. One of the speaker industry's oldest consultants, which was founded in 1926, and which deserves a great deal of the credit for the fact that speakers exist at all, is involved in development projects for SA.

System Audio A/S is not an inward-looking company that has an out-of-date picture of the world around us. We are constantly on the lookout for new ideas that will provide our customers with better sound experiences.

the best speakers for your home

Making the best possible speakers for the home involves a range of specialised tasks that can't be carried out by a single company, working alone. Nevertheless, SA is one of the only speaker brands that dare to break with the old-fashioned principle that a factory should produce everything itself.

We prefer to enthral people with better sound

the SA W1104XL woofer:

almost unbelievable performance

The little woofer has to be heard to be believed. W1104XL is the first 10.4 cm woofer capable of producing a genuinely deep and full-bodied bass sound. It is a technological achievement that will significantly enhance your musical experience.

Small woofers have advantages over big ones, and SA passes a milestone with the W1104XL. The light membranes sound more natural, and their small diameter allows for superior distribution of the sound. Reproducing bass sound is all about the ability of the speaker to move air, and in this context, a small membrane has to work significantly harder to move the same air as a large membrane. The challenge is to increase the membrane's mobility – and W1104XL outperforms every other woofer of the same size.

· the membrane's mobility is 3–5 times greater than an ordinary woofer

· incredibly durable construction, both mechanical and electric

· the specially designed membrane weighs just 0.8 grams and is made of a paper-like material

· the chassis is cast in aluminium and designed to enable substantial airflow

· the heat is drained off by cooling ducts

· the voice coil is made of fibreglass

· a magnet system with built-in metal rings reduces distortion

a real explorer respects

follow the sound

New technologies regularly introduce new media for entertainment in your home. Established formats, often the result of years of improvement, find themselves up against new technologies frequently motivated by the desire to introduce news rather than by the will to improve quality. SA speakers are unique and do not run the risk of being forgotten tomorrow. Everybody is capable of appreciating top class loudspeakers because it is the quality of the speakers that determines how much pleasure you get from your system. Our speakers are not the cheapest and never will be given the resources we put in developing and producing them here in Denmark. On the other hand, they never embody technology only for the sake of presenting the latest news – our speakers are developed with a single purpose in mind: to bring the sound from music or films into the homes of our customers in a way that pleases and inspires each and every time.

unforgettable

SA explorer is the speaker for those who want to spoil themselves with top-class sound quality. The time you spend on entertainment is valuable and should captivate you – regardless of whether you are in the mood for reflection or just pure pleasure.

what do you want to experience today?

Your SA explorer offers superb sound quality, no matter what challenge you confront it with. Enjoy the fine tones and subtle idioms of jazz. Experience energetic, provocative rock, the pure physicality of electronic music, or the subtle sophisticated sounds of the symphony orchestra. SA explorer has a unique way of underlining the rhythms and contrasts of the music, so the listener never misses anything. Even with the volume way down low, you can clearly hear every instrument, and SA explorer will follow you all the way up the volume scale, even when the sound level approaches that of a live concert. This extraordinary versatility makes SA explorer the ideal choice for your home cinema. You will understand every word the actors express. You will find yourself absorbed by the atmosphere of the film like never before, and the speakers will cope with even the most powerful special effects.

SA explorer is more than a speaker. It is an invitation.

world class know-how

15 specialist companies have been involved in the R&D for SA explorer. If you want to set a new standard, it is no use following traditional paths or copying other people in the industry. The team behind SA explorer does not work like that. The members know that genuine progress – progress that really does make a difference – can only be achieved by thinking for even longer, by thinking even more deeply, and by transcending the limits of our knowledge as it stands today.

an acoustic masterpiece

Acoustics and technology come together in SA explorer to provide an experience, which is quite possibly the closest a speaker can come to real live sound. The pure and minimalist lines of the design conceal a powerful and advanced construction, developed completely from scratch. The aim, right from the beginning, was that SA explorer would impress listeners with its performance without drawing attention to itself with a flashy design. SA explorer is the ambitious solution to the task of providing top-class sound quality together with fine integration with your other furniture.

Acoustics is one of the least visible sciences. But superb acoustics liberate music and provide extraordinarily good sound. Acoustic perfection is only one of our goals, and our development process starts far away from laboratories and measuring rooms. Our speakers are designed to work in the homes of the people who choose to live with them. A number of the world's leading acoustic engineers were involved in the five-year development process that culminated in SA explorer. Their contribution may be difficult to see, but you can’t help hearing it.

quality sound for the home – not the lab

In an ordinary home, both the floor and the ceiling have even surfaces, almost completely devoid of breaks or variations, but various pieces of furniture placed along the walls shape the acoustics of the room. The even floor and ceiling surfaces normally generate a large number of reflections which make the sound unnatural, while the furniture in the room and along the walls generates far fewer reflections – so SA explorer radiates less sound in the direction of the floor and ceiling than you are used to with other speakers. The narrow design also helps prevent reflections from the front plate, while the relatively deep cabinet prevents sound from the inside of the cabinet escaping through the membranes on the drive units. All of this is clearly audible because the fewer reflections and the excellent acoustics make you feel closer to the artists.

straight in the ears

SA explorer can be positioned anywhere you want – although it does, of course, always pay to experiment a bit if you want the best possible sound. And when you sit in front of the speaker, the sound comes straight at you at ear level, just like sitting right in front of the musicians.

the technical background

collaboration generates consummate sound

The different components collaborate to reproduce the sound in SA explorer. Each component has been specially designed to do its part of the job: The actual bass notes are reproduced by four specially designed woofers in which the membranes are affected by no fewer than eight built-in moving coils, which guarantee fast and controlled deep bass. The higher bass notes are reproduced by the same four membranes – but are only driven by one of each woofer’s two moving coils. The two upper woofers generate the midrange and the specially designed tweeter reproduces the highest tones in the audible register.

The deepest notes are transmitted through two bass reflex tubes on the back of the cabinet – a simple and inventive solution which exploits the fact that the deep notes spread like rings in water and are, therefore, heard equally clearly all the way around the speaker – including straight in front of it. Because the two tubes are on the rear of the cabinet, their mechanical impact on the cabinet is compensated for by a corresponding impact from the bass elements on the front of the speakers, thus solving the traditional and complicated question of vibrations in the cabinet caused by the force of the movable parts.

speed – the ability to inform

Sound is the most important aspect of a loudspeaker. But a speaker works against the laws of nature in a way that no other part of the sound system does. In an amplifier, a DVD, or a CD player, the sound signal consists of electrons, which are processed and moved quickly and precisely between the components with almost no loss of important information. Sound is created in the loudspeaker by membranes that move physically and weigh far more than electrons. This makes the speakers the slowest piece of equipment in the sound system, so if you want to improve the sound you have to improve the speed of the speaker. Each of the four membranes in the specially designed woofers for SA explorer weighs only 0.9 gram – less than a quarter of an ordinary piece of A4 paper! – and the membrane on explorer’s special tweeter weighs just 80 mg, which is 35% less than an ordinary tweeter membrane. These uniquely light membranes mean that SA explorer reacts incredibly quickly, revealing myriads of important details in the sound.

the materials are part of the sound

Instead of following technological trends, which could change overnight, System Audio A/S develops speakers with the aid of the most important ”measuring instrument” of all: the human ear. During the long development process that led to the SA explorer, we conducted meticulous listening tests and experimented with countless different materials for our speaker membranes. As a result of all those tests, our membranes are made of processed natural materials because of the superior sound characteristics inherent in those materials.

20 individual blocks of damping material

Inside the SA explorer cabinet we have placed 20 small blocks of damping material to create the perfect acoustics. Each one has its own job inside the speaker, and together they optimize the air current, prevent standing waves and stop sound from the inside of the cabinet making their way out through its membranes.

mechanical decoupling prevents

floor vibrations

SA explorer is one of the only speakers in the world with a cabinet that is mechanically decoupled from the floor. We have conducted in-depth studies and optimised the base plate of the speaker. Mechanical stability is crucial and by preventing vibrations spreading to the floor avoids the loss of vital sound information.

the cabinet – the speaker’s foundation

Better sound quality starts with a better speaker cabinet. A stronger cabinet with fewer vibrations and correct acoustic dimensions provides the speaker elements with better working conditions, which makes the sound more natural.

  • The SA explorer cabinet is made of MDF with a thickness varying from 18 to 58 mm
  • the design consists internal bracing which optimize the acoustics inside the speaker and help air circulate inside the cabinet, so no compression or turbulence arises
  • on the front of the speaker, behind the removable plate with the SA logo, there is access to a separate sand chamber in the bottom of the cabinet. By filling the chamber with dry sand, you can achieve greater sound precision
  • the front grille which protects the drive units is rounded on the inside to avoid sound reflections
  • SA explorer is delivered with spikes and rubber feet for mounting under the base plate

woofer SA W1404XL

the woofers introduce XL technology

Each W1404XL woofer contains a new technology with two voice coils in the magnet instead of one. We call it XL technology because the sound becomes ”extra large” and because it excels. These small woofers are incredibly durable and precise because the various movable parts are cast together in the same mould and not glued together like traditional woofers.

  • XL technology uses two voice coils in each woofer to reproduce the deepest notes
  • XL technology makes our woofers capable of reproducing far deeper bass than woofers with traditional technology
  • membrane weight: 0.9 gram, corresponding to 25 % of the weight of an ordinary piece of A4 paper
  • 12 mm stroke (membrane movement)
  • cast aluminium chassis
  • the W1404XL bass element is magnetically shielded
  • XL technology is only available in SA speakers

tweeter SA T2506XS

the T2506XS tweeter is an acoustic masterpiece

Acoustics, precision engineering and musicality converge in the T2506XS tweeter to provide a fantastically subtle reproduction of every detail of the sound. With a weight of just 80 mg, the almost transparent membrane is possibly the lightest ever made.

  • XS technology means that a wave guide around the membrane controls the sound dispersion so it is not reflected from the front plate and edges of the cabinet. The wave guide is an advanced acoustic solution which directs sound waves away from obstacles and establishes a simplification of the electronic circuitry that benefits the sound quality
  • XS Technology also ensures that the tweeter transmits sound over a greater area than most traditional tweeters. You can move around, or sit in different places, and still experience uniform sound quality throughout the room. Ordinary tweeters distribute the highest tones as a narrow beam, so you have to sit right in front of the speaker to get the full benefit of the experience. XS technology extends the area in front of the speakers where you can enjoy the best possible sound quality
  • a 12 mm front plate made of cast aluminium serves as the vibration-free base from which the treble unit transmits information that requires precise membrane movements all the way down to 0.0005 mm!!
  • unique textile membrane weighing only 80 mg – possibly the lightest ever made
  • built-in separate chamber behind the membrane
  • resonance caused by the sound from the rear of the membrane striking the bottom plate of the magnet is eliminated by three different small blocks of damping material, which can be seen through the almost transparent membrane
  • the T2506XS treble speaker is magnetically shielded
  • XS technology is only found in SA speakers

the crossover network

less can be more

In SA explorer every effort has been made to optimise the interaction between the speaker elements and the acoustics, so there is only need for a minimal crossover network to divide the work between the speaker elements. Complicated solutions may be fascinating from a technological perspective, but in a speaker complexity means that the sound has to pass through more components, each of which removes signals and creates distance between you and the living sound.

  • the SA explorer crossover network contains only five (!) components through which the sound signal must pass
  • Nordost cables are used for internal wiring
